UPDATE: Brady has pushed an open source app called NetTime to machines that is keeping time synced, and students can force a time sync without admin rights. It runs as a service in the tool tray
UPDATE: We're still experiencing some intermittent issues here. There *IS* a manual fix that can be done in the help desk, but we're working on more seamless, permanent solutions. More details later.

Something somewhere was blocking our devices connection to the time server we use for syncing time.
Solution: We were unable to unblock the troubling timeserver, so we changed to a new one. We've also set the devices to sync to the time server periodically. A Company Portal sync and then waiting 30 minutes also helps jump start a time sync.
