Allowing Macros for a Single Office File

This article will cover how to enable macros for a Microsoft Office file. Note that we cannot enable macros district wide as they are commonly used for viruses and are in general, bad security practice. Instead, we opt to keep them disabled and we can enable them on files as needed. Below are instructions on how to do this.

  1. Find your file you wish to allow macros on and right click. Choose Properties from the menu.
  2. On the properties page that comes up, you should see a check box that says Unblock under the Security section. Check this box and click Apply.
  3. This should allow you to open the file and run macros. Note that you may have to do this whenever you open this file.
