This article will cover how to convert flipchart files to powerpoint files.
Things to keep in mind
If you're trying to make the switch from activinspire to powerpoint. There are a few things you'll want to make note of.
- When we convert the inspire flipchart to powerpoint, it is going to compress each slide into a picture. This means that some features of the flipchart (i.e. moving parts, 'erase and reveal' boxes, magnifying glass reveal answers, etc.) will need to be adjusted. I would recommend going through your flipchart and removing these features and then try reapplying them once you get into powerpoint.
- Flipcharts are shaped like a square, while powerpoints are shaped like a rectangle. Because of this, when you convert them, there will be black bars on the sides of the slide.
- Not many other teachers have tried doing this. Some parts of flipcharts may convert better than others. Overall, this is a learning experience that will require fine tuning to work correctly.
Exporting the flipchart
- First, we will need to create a folder to house our flipchart when we convert it to picture files.
- Next, we will need to open our flipchart in ActivInspire. Then click File > Export > All Pages to ... > JPEG (.jpg)
- Next, you will need to find the folder you created in step one and click Select
- After a moment of loading, it should fill the selected folder with flattened images of your flipchart.
Importing the flipchart into PowerPoint
- Next, open powerpoint and start a blank presentation
- Go to Insert > Photo Album > New Photo Album
- Click on File/Disk and then navigate to the folder you created. You will need to select all of the pictures in this folder (Tip: Use Control + A to select everything in the folder)
- Lastly, you will need to select the slides you would like to add. If you would like to add every slide, you will need to check every box. (Unfortunately, there's not a way to automatically select them all)
- After this, you will have a all of your flipchart slides into a powerpoint. Be sure to add boxes, transitions, etc where they are needed. You may also have the option on the side bar to add a background to your slides to make them look better. By default, they will have the black bars.
- After you are done, be sure to save your presentation.
