Group Policy is the secret sauce we use to manage our Windows computers in bulk. It lets us apply settings either to specific computers or specific users. Group Policy updates itself every 90 minutes or whenever someone logs on to a computer, but sometimes when there's a change to group policy, you may need to force a manual group policy update to get a computer to recognize what policies should be used.

To update group policy, type the following into the windows search bar in the lower left hand corner of windows and hit enter:

gpupdate /force

Depending on how long it's been since there was a group policy update for that particular machine/user, it may take 10 seconds to a minute or two, and may or may not require a restart (It will prompt you for a restart if it needs on).

(notice there's a space between gpupdate and /force)
