NOTE: Because parents don't have a Classlink portal, the Canvas Login page for Parents is DIFFERENT from the login page for students. The parent login page is found here: https://maryville-schools.instructure.com/login/canvas.. There is also a link to this page in the students' classlink accounts. 


First, go to https://maryville-schools.instructure.com/login/canvas


Creating a Parent Account:

If you don't already have a Canvas parent account, click on "Parent of a Canvas User? Click here for an account." If that message is missing, you're at the wrong Canvas login page. Make sure you're at https://maryville-schools.instructure.com/login/canvas 


If you already have a Canvas parent account, login and skip to the "Getting the Pair Observer Code" section below. 


When you click to create account, you'll be given this sign up page. Under Student Pairing Code, you'll need to enter your pairing code from your student to link your accounts. If you don't have this handy, you can skip this step for now. Instructions on how to get this code from your student are included later in these instructions.




Getting the Pair Observer Code:


Have your student log in to their Canvas account. Click on the account icon in the upper-left hand corner of the navigation menu on the left, then select "Settings"

   



On the right hand side of the page, click "Pair with Observer." This will generate a pairing code that will expire after 7 days. If the code expires, just repeat this process. 




 How Pair Your Account to Your Student's Account if you already have a Canvas Account:


Get the pairing code from your child from the previous steps above. 


Logged in as you (the parent), follow these steps:

1) Click on the "Account" avatar in the upper left-hand navigation menu (1)  and select "Settings" (2)



2) On the left-hand menu, select "Observing" --> Add Student  and enter the pairing code



3) When you finish, it will list your paired students on the "Observing" screen. You can also add additional students here using their pairing codes, as well. 


4) Repeat if necessary!
