Display Adapters
DVI Connectors
Below are the two kinds of DVI Connectors and their corresponding male and female connectors.
These are the DVI-D connectors. This cannot be converted to VGA. The "Cooler Master" style computers have one of these connectors on the back.

These are the DVI-I connectors. These can be converted to VGA. The "Cooler Master" style computers have one of these connectors on the back.
Please note the 4 extra pins / holes that allow this connector to be converted to VGA.

DVI to VGA Adapter
This adapter is how you adapt a VGA Monitor to a DVI port. It is commonly used with "Cooler Master" style computers.
VGA Connectors
Old style "Core 2" cases usually have these connectors on them and nearly all monitors in the school system have them. The cables almost always have the male connector and the monitors or computers have the female connector. A very similar looking connector is the Serial Connector, this will be covered further in the article.

VGA Gender Changer
These tiny adapters are used to convert a male connector to female connector or vise versa. IE: Cables to Go boxes often require a female connector coming from the computer and one of these can convert your male connector on your cable to female so it can plug into the box.

"Cables to Go" VGA Splitter Box
These boxes will take one VGA cable and essentially split it into 2 identical signals. These are not always branded "Cables to Go" but they will all do the same job.
Displayport Connectors
There are 2 different Displayport connectors. Mini and Full size. The Lenovo M700 "Tiny" has 2 fullsize connectors on it and the Dell 3340 (Student Laptops) have a single mini Displayport Connector.

Displayport Adapters
Displayport is incredibly versatile and can be adapted to nearly EVERY other display connector. Below are the most common displayport adapters in the school system.
HDMI Connectors
HDMI is most commonly used with TV's but we have some situations in which we use these cables in the school system.
Full size HDMI is most common, but you may see mini HDMI around as well. Every Dell 3340 (Student laptop) has an HDMI port on it.

USB Connectors
USB connections are used for many devices. Printers, cellphones, hard drives, document cameras, mice, keyboards and etc.

These are found on EVERY computer and laptop in the school system.

These are commonly known as "printer cables". Found on most desktop printers. Also can be used for USB hubs.

Very uncommon in schools. Used for some new cellphones.

These are uncommon in the school system, mainly used for connecting cameras to computers. Very few computers have these ports, usually requires an add-in card.

Used to connect to the school network and the internet. All phones, desktop computers, and the dell 3340 (student laptops) have these ports.
